Ruth Provenzano

Local artist, Ruth Provenzano, showed her work at Teas Landscape Office in December of 2002. Her "impressions of impressionists" are very colorful and lively interpretations. She is a student of Margaret Einkauf at HCAA. Ruth is 77 and has worked part time in commercial art for many years.

Teas Nursery is inviting a different artist each month to exhibit selected pieces of their work in the Teas Landscape Office at 4400 Bellaire Blvd., just inside the West Loop. The pictures will be on view from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Ruth Provenzano, Age: 77

"Even as a child I always loved art. Duiing my last year of high school (Reagan 1942), I won free classes at the Museum of Fme Arts for a sculpture I created. After graduation, I went to work at Sears Main St. Store-sketching and writing copies for newspaper ads.

In 1946, I married and in 1960 we opened a wholesale electronics business. Making ads and flyers for the promotion of our business was one of my responsibilities. In 1975, I became the historian for two electronic associations. In the 1980's , I began painting again with Inge Mosshart and came to HCAA. My current teacher is Margaret Einkauf who paints beautiful bluebonnets.

My friends, children, and other family members have many of my paintings displayed in their homes. I have also donated several paintings to various charities. However, I have never sold a painting.
