Non-Bark Mix

Teas Non-Bark Orchid Mix

This non-bark orchid mix is made from charcoal, perlite, and a premium potting mix. Growers from the Gulf Coast region have found this to be an extremely easy mix to use. There is little root damage when repotting because the medium can be gently shaken off the plants. Repotting is also faster because the mix is poured around the roots and then tamped in. Because the mix is primarily inorganic, it will not break down as rapidly as others, nor do you get the build-up of snow mold and other annoying pathogens. This is perhaps the best-kept secret in the South.

Stock #300277 1/4 cu.ft. bag $4.95 (3 lb.)
Stock #300400 2 cu.ft. bag $26.95 (24 lb.)

Bark Light Mix

Teas Bark-Light Orchid Mix

Bark-Light is a mixture of traditional fir bark amended with generous amounts of Sponge Rok and charcoal. These extra ingredients improve aeration and drainage, especially as the bark begins to break down over time. An excellent alternative for those who like to use bark mixes but are aware of the value of these more stable additives.

Stock #300494 1/4 cu.ft. bag $4.95 (3 lb.)
Stock #300495 2 cu.ft. bag $26.95 (24 lb.)

Long Fibered Sphagnum Moss

Premium Sphagnum Moss

A robust, resilient species of sphagnum moss (cristatum). It is capable of absorbing 20 to 25 times its dry weight in water. Because it thrives in bogs and marshes, often in open water, it is slightly acidic and free of disease-producing organisms. Our premium sphagnum moss is a proven growing medium. Growers report spectacular root growth and plant establishment following orchid deflasking and at early potting and reduced root damage to plants at repotting. Less frequent watering is needed due to the natural properties of the moss, which enhances absorption and transfer of nutrients to plants.
