Roses for 2008
Mail order customers please note:
Our
Bare Root season is very short, Jan-Feb only, weather permitting.
We will ship roses in containers for longer (through May).
Teas has roses in stock year round but the
best selection will be available in February through May.
Follow the links
at the left for complete descriptions
that are periodically updated with availability information.
|
Our roses are containerized but we can remove
them from the pots and ship them bare root Jan & Feb.
Some roses we receive in containers cannot be bare rooted.
After February we ship roses in containers with soil to
US Mainland (except California and Arizona). It is more
expensive to ship roses in their containers but it allows
us to ship roses from our warm climate after they have broken
dormancy here in Houston, Texas. (Zone 9)

The All-America Rose
Selections 1939 - to present
Of the many new roses introduced, very few can withstand
the rigorous AARS test trials. There are 26 official AARS
Test Gardens in 19 states with well-trained judges to score
each new entry. New varieties are tested over a five year
period for color and color stability, fragrance, growth
habit, disease resistance, and overall vigor. An AARS winner
generally indicates a new rose will perform well in Houston
and other areas, as evident from good results over the years.
This year we are very pleased to offer
the coveted
All America Rose Selections for 2008:
Dream Come Truea yellow and red blend
grandiflora.
Mardi Grasa pink, orange and yellow floribunda.

ORDERING:
On the order blank you can multiply
the weight of your roses by the rate to your state. The plants
will be packed in boxes and shipped regular UPS. Second day air
available at extra charge.
Please provide substitutes.
Every rose in our catalog is not available at any one time.
It will facilitate your order if we can choose from a list of
substitutes. If there are any possible substitutes, please list
them on your order blank.
PATENT VS. NON-PATENT
Newly introduced roses usually apply for a plant patent which
they retain for 20 years. Most roses we carry were once patented.
Even though the patent has expired on older varieties, they have
actually proven themselves over a longer period. Plant-patent
rights may not be granted until the plant has been marketed for
a few years - thus the words "Plant Patent Applied For"
(PPAF) on the label. Many roses now bear registered trade marks
as well.
